Apr 05, 2007 · Can anyone comment on the difference between the machinability of A572 versus A36. We are currently turning a part made of A36, the machine shop is finding that it is excessively gummy to the point where they have to replace inserts. A572 is similar in price and meets the yield strength criteria, but I am unsure on the machinabilty of the material. A572 Grade 42, 55, 60, 65 Steel Plates Leeco Steel, LLCASTM A572 steel plate is a popular grade of high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steel that is typically used in structural applications. A572 steel contains chemical alloys that enhance the materials hardness and ability to bear weight, and this material is lightweight relative to steel grades with similar compositions.
Apr 27, 2018 · A572 is Grade 50 50,000 psi tensile material. It's not hard or hardenable. Whether it would be better than 1018 or A36 is hard to say, in respect of using it for dies it's essentially their equivalent. My press dies happen to be grade 50 because we use thousands of tons of it at work. A572 Structural, Carbon & HSLA Steel Plate - Chapel SteelASTM A572. A high-strength low-alloy steel plate that is utilized in a variety of structural applications. This specification is produced in Grades 42, 50, 55, 60 & 65, the grades representing the yield strength. Plates that are 4 and thicker are made to a 42 KSI yield, although material can be modified to reach the 50 KSI min yield. ASTM A36 Carbon Steel vs. ASTM A572 Grade 50 ::May 30, 2020 · ASTM A36 Carbon Steel vs. ASTM A572 Grade 50. Both ASTM A36 carbon steel and ASTM A572 grade 50 are iron alloys. Both are furnished in the as-fabricated (no temper or treatment) condition. They have a very high 99% of their average alloy composition in common. For each property being compared, the top bar is ASTM A36 carbon steel and the bottom
